The Plains Theater, in conjunction with the many friends of local businesswoman Jennifer Schofield, is sponsoring a benefit weekend for Schofield during the weekend of July 14, 15, 16. Schofield owns and operates JJ’s Restaurant located on Highway 287 in Eads and has been battling breast cancer for the past few months. The costs associated with cancer are obviously one of the major hurdles Schofield must overcome, but it’s the incidental costs that also come with the disease that events such as this one can address.
During that weekend, all movie ticket and concession sales will go toward Schofield’s medical fund. A number of local businesses and individuals as well as the Crow-Luther Cultural Events Center, the non-profit that operates the Plains Theater, are helping to cover the licensing and supply costs for the weekend.
The Disney-Pixar movie Cars 3 will be on screen, and promoters are hoping that many, many people will come through the doors at the Plains Theater that weekend. The children’s film, which got great reviews, brings back the beloved character Lightning McQueen who sets out to prove to a new generation of racers that he's still the best race car in the world.
As always, the cost for a movie at the Plains Theater is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Concession prices are the cheapest around, as well. For a just a little bit of cash, you can bring the entire family to a great summer time movie, fill up on goodies, and know that you are doing your part in making a fellow citizen’s burden just a little bit lighter.
Movie times are (Friday) July 14 at 7:00 pm, (Saturday) July 15 at 7:00 pm, and (Sunday) July 16 at 6:00 pm.
