Girls' Golf Heating up for Cheyenne Wells Tigers

The Cheyenne Wells Tigers continues to put a competitive team in the 3A golf ranks each and every season and this season is no different.  Well, according to head coach Stacy Noe, this group of girls is different as they have improved a lot since last year and are now competitive in the tournaments they are competing in.

They then traveled to Fowler at the end of the week to a tournament that sported 12 teams.  The Cheyenne Wells group placed in second, an impressive achievement for these girls who are golfing against full-time golf athletes.  In Fowler there were approximately 50 golfers in total.  Noe placed 7th out of the large field shooting an even 100 in the 18-hole, 72-par tournament.  Johnson was right behind Noe in 8th place with a 102 performance, and Rittgers shot a 106, good enough for 13th place.  The overall championship round in the tournament was a 94.

According to Coach Noe, “The girls are playing good golf and should keep improving their scores as the season progresses.  They work hard and care about improving their game!”

The three girls who placed in the Fowler tournament were on the team last year and their experience is paying off.  Noe believes, “We have a good shot at qualifying all 3 girls to state this year!”  As for the fourth golfer on the team, she is a first year golfer named Morgan Cunningham.  Noe has been impressed with her as she is a novice golfer that is improving already quite a bit.

The team will be traveling to Burlington on Friday as they continue through the middle of their season.
