Over the holiday break most people put the prep sports talk to the side as they prepared for their holiday plans with family and friends. The first part of the winter season sports including basketball and wrestling was put on hold while we all turned to Christmas and New Years’ celebrations.
But one list that came out from CHSAA was under the radar but is one that needs to be reported. That list is the 8-Man and 6-Man Football All-State selections. These athletes are considered the best of the best in their given football divisions.

In the 8-Man ranks the Valley teams of Holly, Granada, Wiley, McClave, and Springfield was represented well with Holly getting into the state semifinals. The following local athletes from these schools were named to the Colorado 8-Man All-State team:
First Team
Jesus “Gustavo” Dominguez, Holly, Junior, Wide Receiver, Defensive End, and Outside Linebacker.
Second Team
Erick Chaparro, Holly, Junior, Running Back, Interior Linebacker, Kick Returns
Beau Dukes, Springfield, Junior, Quarterback, Linebacker
Robert Gutierrez, Holly, Senior, Running Back, Safety, Kick Returns
Honorable Mention:

The 6-Man division includes the smallest schools in the state, but it also features some great athletes in a fast-paced, high-scoring game. Area schools including Eads, Kit Carson, Genoa-Hugo, and Cheyenne Wells were well-represented on the All-State 6-Man Football list:
