LCC Volleyball Finishes in the Best Regional Tournament Position in Years

     (Lamar, Colorado; November 7, 2016) The Lamar Community College volleyball team corrected a late-season slide into a postseason turnaround to close out 2016 and set a successful tone for the offseason.
The fourth-seeded Lopes went 2-2 at the Region IX-South tournament in La Junta over the weekend to finish 17-17 overall while picking up a handful of milestones and awards along the way.

This Cheyenne County Showdown was Historical; CW over KC 56-50

     Earlier in the season, the Kit Carson Wildcats, who came into the state 6-man quarterfinals undefeated, would nip Cheyenne Wells at the buzzer to win a close, regular season game in a come-from-behind manner.  Eads and Stratton/Liberty, too, beat the Tigers in come-from-behind wins.  Tiger Coach Garret Smith, who graduated in 2010 from Eads High School and played under Coach Shawn Randel in Eads’ state championship in 2008, was beginning to wonder if his team could really hold on to a close game.  Before Saturday’s Cheyenne County Showdown they had not been able to figure out how to finish.

Eads Volleyball Ends Season at District Tournament

     It’s been a long and difficult season for the Eads Volleyball team as the 7-13 Eagles have struggled with consistency.  The young team, with nary a senior on the team, was not able to put together a complete tournament and ended their season at the District 2 tournament playing for the third and final spot against McClave.  They would drop that match, 3-1, ultimately ending their up and down season.
