God’s Goodness and Power

A week and a half ago many in our community came together to celebrate Easter with a Sunrise Drive-In Service. This ecumenical event united, highlighted, ministered and gave an opportunity for many to acknowledge and celebrate a day set aside to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many, it was meaningful and comforting to be reminded of God’s love for us, especially during a time that we all have been affected in varying degrees by COVID-19.

Psalm 91 also reassures us what a loving God can do for us in a time of need.

  • :1 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
  • :2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
  • :9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling…

Please read Psalm 91in its entirety and as you do, can you sense God’s goodness and power? God is a shelter, a refuge when we face dangers or fears. Those that trust in the Lord trade fears for faith in Him. We rest with Him by putting ourselves under His protection and promising our love to Him. Acknowledge, seek, and call Him and He will hear your cry.

When there is a storm, we may ask, “Where is God? Why has He allowed all this to happen?” My conviction is that God is good and great, and He will not leave us nor forsake us. He is by our side helping us navigate. Storms may happen as a way of nudging us and have us question our priorities—our spiritual condition being priority number one. Knowing that He is our strength, rock, hope and that He loves us is of great comfort in the midst of storms.

How much does God love us? He sent his Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for ALL mankind. My prayer is that when we experience storms in life, we either draw closer to Jesus or a or accept Him. How do you accept this free, eternal gift? It is easy to do. Say, “Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Savior. In Your Name. Amen.” If you asked Christ into your life, I would like to visit with you about the next steps that will help you become deeply rooted and grow as a follower of Him. Debbie, my wife, and I are available to visit with anyone having a need.

I invite and welcome you to visit us for Drive-In Church at Praise Community Church in Eads on Sundays at 10:45 AM and tuning to 88.1 FM on your radio dial. You will have the opportunity to “Honk if you love Jesus!”
