The Crow-Luther Cultural Events Center (CLCEC) is thrilled to be a part of the upcoming community Merry on Maine event to be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 on Maine Street in Eads.
As part of the Merry on Maine event CLCEC is planning a community concert at the Plains Theater in Eads that will begin at 3:00 pm on December 5 and feature the best local entertainment around.
This is a wholly community event featuring local small children and bigger kids performing holiday songs and highlights some of our favorite local entertainers including Breanna and James Echols from Kit Carson, Alicia James from Eads and Jamie Crockett, also from Eads. The locals will be joined by Liberty Drive, the band from Pueblo that was a crowd favorite last summer at the Maine Street Bash featuring former Granada School Superintendent and Coach Leo Laprairie.
Tickets are now available by contacting any CLCEC board member including Betsy Barnett, Mary Vasquez, Terry Riley, Kim Richards, Alicia James, Charlene Gifford, Marty Miller, Connie Shotton, or Claire Prince. Tickets will also be on sale at the Hospital Bazaar on November 20. You can also buy tickets at the Kiowa County Independent newspaper offices or the Kiowa County Abstract Office.
Tickets are $10 per seat and can be ordered by also calling 719-940-0799 for Will Call Pick-up at the Theater on the day of the performance.
The Merry on Maine event will begin at noon on Maine Street between 14th and 13th Streets on Sunday, December 5th. Food vendors will be available as well as a holiday drinks booth and a KidZone area from 1pm to 3pm. Santa Claus will be coming in on the Train at 1 pm and will provide free gift bags for all the children and a chance to sit on Santa’s lap for a photo opportunity.
After the Merry on Maine concert at the Plains Theater everyone is invited to gather around the community Christmas tree located in the Eads City Park at the corner of 14th Street and Maine where speakers will inspire toward a wonderful holiday season and a better new year to come. The community Christmas Tree will be turned on around 5:45 pm.
The Parade of Lights will then get started at 6:00 pm. To get involved with that contact Karl Eikenberg at (719) 355-5588. Participants in the Parade of Lights will line up on 14th Street on the south side of the Courthouse in Eads.
Finally, as part of the community celebration, the Eads Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Second Annual House Decorating Contest for the community. The winner will receive $100, second place will get $75, and third place will win $50. Sign up for the house decorating contest at the Town of Eads or call them at 719-438-5590.
Any profits or donations from the event will be divided equally between the Little Leaders Learning Center in Eads and the Kiowa County Library. Tax deductible donations to LLLCC are at 50% tax credit but must be made through the Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation who will pass the entire donation onto LLLCC and provide the donor with appropriate tax credit documentation. For more information in making a donation to any of our local non-profits contact Cindy McLoud at the KCEDF at (719) 438-2200.
