Beginning Sunday, July 28th, only a few days from the publication of today’s Independent, there will be a Sunday Morning Community Worship Service at the Plains Theater in Eads.

The service will be held at the early hour of 9:00 a.m. in order to avoid taking place when most churches are meeting for worship. We want to be sure to complement our community of various churches; we have no desire to compete with them.

There is to be no denominational identification. Everyone is welcome, in fact encouraged, to attend.

And, by the way, if you attend this service and must leave during the service to attend to necessary responsibilities, feel free to go your way with no apology. No offerings will be taken. We are grateful to the theater board of directors for making these worship services possible.

There’s a place here for everyone.

It is not our purpose to organize a church.

Rather, we are making possible a fellowship for those who may not have a home church or who may simply want to attend and help support this community effort.

We anticipate having community volunteers participating in various ways each week. There will be a check-list card at the Sunday service for those who wish to volunteer.

We appreciate our Christian and church related friends throughout the community who have expressed interest and support for this effort. That means so much to us because they understand that our goal is not to encroach on their ministries but to support the whole of our community ministries. I believe that our churches are all about doing good, supporting and improving our beloved community.

Having been around and served churches most of my life, I am acutely aware that such a project as this one requires more than a handful of interested individuals to make the pieces come together as a whole. So please, as you observe what we are attempting to accomplish, feel free to offer your assistance. Notice, I’m soliciting advice only if it is accompanied by assistance to do so.

Join us for our first service this Sunday, July 28th, and on the Sundays to follow, right here in The Garden of Eads.

This reminder to the guys of our region. Fight Club will resume in September. Our first meeting is set for Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. at JJ’s Restaurant.
