By Bill Bunting
You looked for answers
In your life
Amongst the turmoil
Stress and strife
But it seemed to be
To no avail
As you wandered down
The cattle trail
And wandered through
The canyon alone
Thinking thoughts
Of your own
I need answers
Was your cry
So I painted blue
Into your sky
But you never
Raised your eyes
So I sent a
Small surprise
A feather floating
On the air
That if you saw
You did not care
And it seems
You never heard
The warbling trill
Of the little bird
As you walked
Down to the creek
I caused the little
Stream to speak
And there beside
To cheer your gloom
I planted flowers
All in bloom
With bees buzzing
All around
With a joy
I hoped you’d found
And placed a rock
In your way
A place to set
A place to stay
And contemplate
Your way of life
That causes all
Your stress and strife
But you were bothered
I heard you say
Why’s this rock
Here in my way
You never looked
You never saw
There was no wonder
There was no awe
As you got back
In your automobile
With it’s cough
And with it’s squeal
And headed down
The dirt road
Still carrying
Your heavy load
The answers you say
You could not find
I wonder are
You deaf and blind
At least. that’s the view here from behind the grindstone.
