Do what you can with what you have.
It’s so easy to hesitate when it comes to pursuing our dreams. Why is it that we always look at what we don’t have? The money, the equipment, the knowledge, the skills… we let so many of these things keep us from doing something we desperately want to do. Due to self-doubt and fear of failing, we’d rather choose a more predictable, safer path and give up on our dreams than use whatever we already have and give them a real chance. I’m learning to do this with my music.
On the 17th of November, I’m doing something I have desperately wanted to do for over a decade. I’m putting on my first solo concert, showcasing the songs I have written over the last year or two. It may seem small to some, but to me, this is BIG! When I began my music journey in February with the release of my first independently recorded single “Cease Fire”, I didn’t feel prepared, I didn’t really have a plan, didn’t really know what I was doing (still don’t completely). I just did my best with the tools I had in that moment. I don’t have access to a 5-star recording studio in Nashville, but I do have a recording software program on my computer. I don’t have a videographer or director for my music videos, but do I have an iPhone camera. I don’t have a photographer; I have a timer setting on my phone camera. With everything I’m doing, I’m learning as I go. With the help of YouTube, I am learning and growing in my skills every single day, and I know if I can do this, you can too!
It’s time to dream again, but don’t just dream, DO! Do the things in your heart! Take a simple step forward and position yourself to learn and perfect your skills as you go! It will amaze you how God will open the doors once you put your faith in action! If you have a dream, and His heart remains your prayer, there is NOTHING you can’t do! Use whatever you have and watch as it begins to grow.
Regret caused by failure is far less painful than regret caused by inaction. Dream again! You’ll never know if you never try.
