I always think of Josh Gifford when I hear or read that scripture because that was his favorite verse when he was in high school.

Monday September 12th was a special day for all the students at Eads and Kit Carson schools when men and women from Cheyenne Wells, Kit Carson, and Eads representing the VFW—Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3411 and the VFW Auxiliary presented a 9-11 program about respect and care of the flag of the United States of America. In both schools a whole section of the bleachers was filled with students from Kindergarteners to senior high students and their faculties.

The Colorado State Fair began in Pueblo on Friday, August 26, but many exhibitors, 4-H members, FFA members, vendors and Extension Agents have been working and serving at the State Fairgrounds all last week. Alexa Nelson spent several days there as a senior 4-H member helping, after the projects were judged, to display them.

The Eads Senior Citizens who attended the monthly March noon meal and meeting last week enjoyed the delicious corned beef, potato and carrot entrés. Gail Voss said that it took ten hours to cook the meat.

Thanksgiving Day. OH, what a beautiful, warm day it was! Wednesday the skies were dreary gray but on November 25th we had sunny blue skies! Inside my home our guests enjoyed a turkey dinner with many side dishes, delicious pies and a basket of little gifts and banana breads all wrapped and prepared by my friend Liz Hulteen.

A good scripture verse to guide you, Reader, in the New Year is: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your paths.

The Eads Senior Citizens who came to the monthly lunch thoroughly enjoyed the beef brisket that Rod and Dana Brown donated to the group.  Darryl Stolzenberger smoked the brisket for Gail to serve.  She also made warm wheat rolls and baked cheese hash brown casserole.  Joyce Berry gave us an update on the future Senior Center across the street which is now two vacant gutted brick building.  She said that Cindy McCloud is working on some new grants.  Next month, Gail Voss, our director said she will fry the chickens and make gravy and Joyce Berry volunteered to make mashed potatoes.  I remember that in the past June Blooding often made those potatoes.  Bless her heart. Here are three important dates: Wednesday, July 5th is the Sage meal gathering to eat together at noon at the Center.
