Last week the Town of Haswell honored the good works of Marlynn Eikenberg who tragically passed away in November of 2023 by presenting a beautiful, newly constructed purple bench for the Haswell Community Building.

The bench’s vibrant purple color reminded all of the vibrant life of service Marlynn gave to the communities of Haswell, in particular, but also Eads.

Haswell Mayor Michelle Nelson said the bench was dedicated to Marlynn for her years of commitment to the community. “She served as a trustee on the Haswell town board for many years and during that time conducted herself with grace, was always appropriate but fun-loving, and we valued her opinion and ideas because we knew her main goal was to keep this town together and going.”

Pam Lessenden, Town of Haswell clerk remembered how Marlynn served on the recreation committee requiring her to plan all the dances at the Haswell Community Building. “She sure could dance to ‘Wipe Out’ where she often times left me on the floor!” reminisced Lessenden.

Nelson closed by saying, “Marlynn was there for the hard times as well as the fun stuff. We’ll never be able to replace her.”

Her husband Delton Eikenberg told the crowd gathered at the ceremony, “She loved this town.”
