There’s a new element to the Merry on Maine Christmas Festival to be held on Saturday, December 12 and that is a PARADE OF LIGHTS. It has been longer than recent memory that Eads has actually sponsored a Parade of Lights at the holidays, so the organizers are very excited about the upcoming addition to the town’s holiday celebration. The Town of Eads will be the organizers of this, the first in many years, Parade of Lights.
Anyone and everyone are encouraged to join in the parade with the only stipulation being a valid driver’s license required to operate whatever mode of transportation is decorated and lit up for the occasion. Children, of course, are welcome to be on the “float” as well.
Call the girls at the Town of Eads at 719-438-5590 to get signed up and they will have more instructions for you.
At 5PM on Saturday, December 12th, towards the conclusion of the Merry on Maine Christmas Festival in #DowntownEads the parade participants will line up in front of Prairie Pines on Lowell Street. They hope the residents from the assisted living facility will be able to enjoy the start of the parade. It will head north down Maine Street, across the highway, across the railroad tracks, and take a left turn at 14th Street heading to Luther Street where they will head north again and parade by the Kiowa County Hospital District for the nursing home residents. After which they will go to the end of Luther, turn right and head back up to Maine Street where they will take another right and travel back down Maine Street to the south end where everyone will then converge for the finale---- motivational and spiritual speakers and then the lighting of the community Christmas tree!
This event has already created a great deal of excitement in the town and it’s something families, friends or businesses can come together to do. So get out your golf carts, trailers, 4-wheelers, classic cars and trucks, and the big rigs…maybe even the sprayers and the tractors (who knows)… and let’s have a Parade of Lights that sets a new standard in Eads!
