It has been sometime since the Kit Carson Outreach Clinic has had a steady provider, as an outreach from Keefe Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne Wells the Kit Carson Clinic has offered patients with outstanding care and they have done their best to be of service to all in the local community as well as surrounding communities.

Recently, Keefe Memorial Hospital District hired Amanda Heibult FNP-C who is now the primary provider for the Kit Carson Outreach Clinic and is seeing patients during their regular hours.

Amanda is a wife of almost 18 years and mother of two children, she and her husband have lived in Colorado since 1992. She completed both her Under-Graduate and Graduate degrees at the University of Colorado Anshutz Medical Campus. She has been a Nurse Practitioner for a little over a year and worked as a pediatrics nurse for years prior to that.

“I love working with all ages and providing services to the community in whatever way I can. I love helping people live their best lives.”

She and her family do not live in the local community as her husband has worked for 18 years at the same job and her kids are very active in their community, so Amanda chooses to commute.

While Heibult may not be from the rural parts of the state, she is no stranger to the area; Amanda completed many of her school clinical hours in Holly, Colorado working with Mandy Joiner. Amanda says, “Mandy Joiner truly helped me appreciate rural health and what I could offer out here. I love the close-knit community.”

When asked if she had any goals or expectations for the clinic she stated, “I would love to see the Kit Carson Clinic grow! My goal is to eventually be here Monday through Wednesday with extended hours. I am currently here Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-6 and hopefully eventually will be here on Tuesdays from 7am-7pm. I want to establish a great relationship with all my patients. I hope to offer services to this community that have not been available.”

Wendy McDowell who is the clinic’s administrator for Keefe Memorial Clinics, says that “We will be having some new exciting services starting in December and another clinic within our clinic will be opening.”

To schedule an appointment with Amanda Heibult at the Kit Carson Outreach Clinic call the clinic at 719-962-3501 or stop in at 102 East 2nd Street Mondays and Wednesdays from 6AM-6PM, as walk-ins are always welcome.
