July 27, 2022

Over the past weekend Sheriff Forrest Frazee was on a family outing on the western slope when he was involved in an ATV accident and has suffered severe, but non-life threatening injuries.

Kiowa County Undersheriff Kayla Murdock will be handling the day-to-day operations at the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) during Frazee’s absence.

The KCSO provided the Independent with the following Press Release on Monday after learning of Frazee’s accident:

“On July 24, 2022 Sheriff Frazee was involved in an ATV accident on the western slope. He is in good spirits and on the mend in the hospital in Grand Junction where doctors state that he will make a full recovery. Sheriff Frazee is in direct communication with the office, and Undersheriff Murdock will be handling day to day operations until he is able to resume duty. When unforeseen circumstances such as this arise, there is a protocol that must be followed to keep things running. The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office is still fully operational, and the citizens can rest assured that they can rely on us during this time.”

The Independent wishes Sheriff Frazee a speedy recovery and hopes he will soon be back on the job here in Kiowa County.
