On December 29th the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site made the following post on their Facebook page:
During this holiday season, we have some exciting news! Starting on January 2nd, 2023, the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site is proud to announce we are reopening our Visitor and Education Center, located at 1301 Maine Street in Eads, Colorado!
This building will be a wonderful first point of contact for visitors where you can find a Ranger waiting to answer your questions and help you make it safely to the remote site, located 23 miles away. There will also be exhibits available for visitors and a bookstore.
The Visitor and Education Center will be open Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. The site will continue to be open as well, Thursday through Monday, 9am to 4pm.

This is most welcome news as the visitor and education center located on Maine Street in Eads has been closed for nearly a year due to employee shortages. The building contains a beautifully renovated space that had just been completed just prior to the pandemic. The center then stayed closed throughout the pandemic, as most government buildings did. However, when they tried to re-open there were no employees available who would move to the Eads site in order to be able to open the visitor center on Maine Street.
The park itself, located east of Eads, did manage to remain open over the past year.
