Spirit Dance Troupe Continues to Shine in State Competitions

The Spirit Dance Troupe out of Lamar coached by Rosalind Smith, traveled to the Revolution Talent Competition in Pueblo in the first part of March to compete in the large and highly competitive dance event.

While there, one of their acts, “The Dreams,” received an invitation to compete at the 2023 World Dance Championships from July 26-31 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ. Smith stated, “We are so proud and thrilled with the invitation and we are working toward utilizing the Golden Ticket given to us in Pueblo.”

“The Dreams” golden ticket performance was presented by Cali Rider, George Suarez, Jaxi Downing, Reagan Phares, Piper Uhland, and Saylor Uhland.

Two other dance numbers gained special recognition at the Revolution Talent Competition. The dance routine entitled, “Girls Rock!” was given the Judge’s Choice award. Performers in the “Girls Rock!” dance included Jaxi Downing and Reagan Pharas. The second special award, the Excellence in Entertainment Award, was given to the dance number of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” performed by Cali Rider, Scarlett Suarez, Piper Uhland, Saylor Uhland, Jaxi Downing, and Reagan Pharas.

The following dance routines placed in the Top 10 within their age group and dance genre categories:

  • 1st Place – 8 & Under Duets/Trios (Level 1) – “Girls Rock!” by Jaxi Downing & Reagan Pharas.
  • 3rd Place – 8 & Under Small Groups (Level 1) – “The Dreams” by Cali Rider, George Suarez, Jaxi Downing, Reagan Pharas, Saylor Uhland, Piper Uhland.
  • 4th Place – 8 & Under Solos (Level 1) – “Trouble” by Jaxi Downing
  • 8th Place – 8 & Under Solos (Level 1) – “We Came to Smash” by Reagan Pharas
  • 8th Place – 8 & Under Small Groups – Level 2 – Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cali Rider, Scarlett Suarez, Piper Uhland, Saylor Uhland, Jaxi Downing, and Reagan Pharas
  • 6th Place – 9-11 Years Solos (Level 1) – “Rainbow” by Sienna Randle
  • 7th Place – 9-11 Years Solos (Level 1) – “Star Strike” by Cali Rider
  • 8th Place – 9-11 Years Duets/Trios (Level 2) – “Dance is What We Believe” by Cali Rider, Scarlett Suarez, and Sienna Randle

Spirit Dance provides dance instruction out of Lamar, Colorado. They offer Tap, Ballet/Lyrical, AcroDance, KinderAcro, and Creative Movement classes for ages 3 and up for boys and girls alike. Spirit Dance is also home to the Spirit Elite and Rising Star, the award-winning competition teams that competed in Pueblo in early March.
