Eloquence & Grace: All You Need to Know ...

For a few weeks, I’ve been trying to write articles about the Judge Brett Kavanaugh appointment hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee and investigations. I’m sorry to say, I’m woefully inadequate in my command and use of our American English language, from what I saw and heard this afternoon.

Today, Friday October 5, 2018, between 3:00 & 4:PM EDST, in Washington, D. C. on the U. S. Senate floor, the great State of Maine Senator Susan Collins gave one of the most eloquent, well-considered, diligent speeches I’ve ever heard. Her speech is the way speeches are supposed to be written and given. If her statements weren’t clear and concise and persuasive to you, then maybe you need to look at your own process for judging, non-partisan, compelling thought.

Republican, Democrat or Independent, man or woman regardless, her speech stood alone above politics, race, gender or any other persuasion.

In short, Senator Collins did, in 45+ minutes, what all of the political haranguers couldn’t do in their dysfunctional way of doing our business. In that brief span of time, she addressed all the principal issues of Democrat and Republican concern, who I hope were watching and listening with their ears and brains.

If she were to run for President, on that speech alone, I’d vote for her to be our first female President. If, like was sometimes done in our past I would advise any party to consider her as a separate popular choice for Vice-President.

Reporters noted she’d been to the secure room to read the F.B.I. supplemental reports at least twice.

Forget the hoopla. Collins’ speech today was all you need to know about picking a Supreme Court Judge, like this one in particular or any other, and how we turn victims into victims again and honorable people into unwarranted victims of political circumstance. I hope you can go on-line and read or watch her whole speech.

She owned the moment those who feel we have an exceptional form of government and are patriots proud of America can be of good cheer. There is hope if we have voices like hers for all of US.

I will pay more attention to Senator Collins in the future.
