Good evening, fellow Coloradans,

Today, on the House floor, we began with the Majority voting to invoke Rule 14, limiting debate to just two hours each on three highly consequential bills. These were not minor issues; these were bills dealing with lowering penalties for murder, immigration enforcement, and abortion medication mandates on institutions of higher education.

We represent millions of Coloradans–we will never tolerate the silencing of their voices.

While the ultimate goal is for these bills to be defeated, we used our limited time throughout the day to try to put some common sense into these senseless policies. To no surprise, the Democrats rejected amendments that, if passed, would have:

  • Exempted institutions that either could not afford to pay the costs associated with the abortion pill, did not have an on-campus pharmacy, or are not funded by the state from the mandate.
  • Provided clarity to detention facilities that will now be mandated to comply with unrealistic and unannounced inspections.
  • Ensured first responders are always protected, held repeat domestic violence offenders fully accountable, and affirmed the equal value of every life.

Despite our efforts, these bills now advance to Third Reading. While our voices were limited on Second Reading, we will not be silenced. We will make our opposition unmistakably clear and continue fighting against policies that put politics over people, public safety, and common sense in our state.

Stay tuned next week.

V/R,
Jarvis Caldwell

Until the 1980s, political parties did not campaign on cutting or restricting the expansion of social programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and SNAP. There was a bipartisan consensus that the nation should prioritize balancing the budget, but that this should not be done by cutting these crucial programs.

Well, the Democrats are at it again, those spineless meatheads wet their pants when Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. They’re in an uproar now that he wants to rename Lake Ontario to the Lake of America.

Mitch McConnell–where are you? Is this like looking for Waldo? McConnell, Schumer, Biden, and Pelosi—stay out of politics. These individuals and about 10-12 Democrat and Republican members should be poster children for pushing term and age limits for elected officials.
