My partner, the wise man he is, always said, at the end of the day as a cop, an investigator, all that’s left is your reputation. Without your reputation for honesty, being “stand up,” being ready to act, following through and making right decisions, you were nothing. In a word, without honour you’re as low as the scum you run to ground.

COVID on the Rise in Kiowa County; Closes Schools until after Thanksgiving

Over the past week Kiowa County has seen a significant rise in positive COVID cases as their numbers more than doubled from a total of 8 last week to 15 by the end of this week.  The results of the rise in cases affected the Eads School District right away.  First, on November 7 the high school was quarantined for 14 days resulting in the football team having to take a ‘no contest’ in the final week of the regular season.  Then, at the end of last week, on November 13, it was announced that the 3rd-5th grade cohort had a positive case and was forced to quarantine for 14 days.  Once the second quarantine occurred in a second cohort, Superintendent Glenn Smith decided to close the school until after Thanksgiving.  Eads is scheduled to be back to in-person instruction on Monday, November 30.

Join the Parade of Lights Coming to Eads on December 12

There’s a new element to the Merry on Maine Christmas Festival to be held on Saturday, December 12 and that is a PARADE OF LIGHTS.  It has been longer than recent memory that Eads has actually sponsored a Parade of Lights at the holidays, so the organizers are very excited about the upcoming addition to the town’s holiday celebration.  The Town of Eads will be the organizers of this, the first in many years, Parade of Lights.
