My sister in Australia occasionally and very kindly sends me copies of professionally written articles in national publications that she reads to (1) help educate me (I’d never heard of the cardboard billionaire dual US/Australian citizen Anthony Pratt before), (2) inform me (motoring writer Stephen Corby recently test drove the the Chinese-made Leapmotor C10 EV and described it as “beyond awful”), and (3) help my fledgling writing career in the Kiowa County Independent so that one of my two regular readers doesn’t jump ship.

Taking a leaf out of someone’s book, I nevertheless wanted to cover two recent newsworthy items that regular media outlets have completely ignored for reasons I don’t quite understand.

The last day of U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was last week. She stepped down to spend more time helping her husband work through and hopefully recover from the bone cancer he is experiencing.

Before leaving, she declassified a considerable volume of documents related to two subject areas that government officials under the Biden administration and the regular media always branded as “conspiracy theories”.

It turns out they weren’t.

The first batch of documents revealed evidence of longstanding U.S. taxpayer support for more than 120 biolabs in 30+ countries. Forty of these labs were in the Ukraine and were one of the reasons used by Vladimir Putin to justify the second Russian invasion in 2022 (the first was 2014). The Ukraine biolabs were seen as a clear and present danger to Russia because many were located along their shared border and housed dangerous pathogens like anthrax, tularemia, tuberculosis, Swine Fever, New Castles Disease, MERS, SARS, Marburg, Ebola, Lassa, the Plague, Rickettsia, etc.

The U.S. Intelligence Community had previously warned the U.S. government that these Ukrainian biolabs, some of which were engaged in gain-of-function research, were vulnerable to longstanding threats of Russian attack, seizure, and/or damage.

(Perhaps if these biolabs weren’t there, Russia may not have invaded the Ukraine? Dare I even hint that the current Russo/Ukraine war was caused by the Obama administration’s funding of Ukraine biolabs.)

The existence and taxpayer funding of these laboratories had been denied and knowingly withheld from the American people. (See declassified information at https://www.dni.gov/files/BIOLAB_Slides.pdf).

The second release, 4.7 million pages of documents, came on Tulsi Gabbard’s last day. These related to the lab leak origin of COVID-19 and links between U.S. funded research, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and actions by former top US health official Anthony Fauci. (https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/press-releases-2026/4166-pr-11-26)

“The COVID-19 pandemic caused tremendous hardship and pain for millions of our fellow Americans and for countless people around the world. After years of lies, censorship, and cover-ups, the American people deserve transparency, truth, and accountability,” Gabbard said in a statement accompanying the release. “The tactics used to hide the truth are straight from the deep state playbook: politicized self-serving leaders like Dr. Fauci covered up their own wrongdoing and abuses of power, manipulated intelligence, lied to Congress, and undermined a duly elected President by restricting his access to vital facts needed to keep the country safe. It’s time the American people learn the real story.”

Declassified documents include internal communications, whistleblower allegations and intelligence materials related to investigations into the pandemic’s origins and allege that Dr. Fauci, while serving as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, participated in discussions related to intelligence reviews of COVID-19’s origins, remained in contact with intelligence officials during key stages of the review process, and oversaw funding that supported coronavirus research involving bat viruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

On page 2,847 of the documents, a NAID internal memo dated October 3, 2019 states: “Phase 3 aerosolization test complete. Mortality projection: 1.8 to 3.2 million within 18 months of release. Recommend immediate halt.” A handwritten comment from Dr. Fauci on the same memo states:”Continue. Funding secured through Geneva.”

The documents also show that at a classified briefing on November 14, 2019 attended by Fauci, another, and 7 members of Congress, attendees were told a novel pathogen would emerge from Wuhan within 60 days. (Congressional trading records show $312 million in pharmaceutical stock positions were opened between November 15 and December 20, 2019, as insiders became rich in advance of Americans dying.)

A declassified mortality analysis completed in March 2024 and suppressed until now, highlights that in the U.S. there were 1.2 million direct COVID deaths, 487,000 adverse vaccine deaths, and 340,000 lockdown deaths for a total of 2.03 million dead Americans.

And many millions more worldwide in addition to catastrophic damage to societies and national economies.

And some wonder why so many of us no longer trust the government.

As both of my regular readers know, the question of how best to deal with the huge numbers of people who have illegally entered the United States in recent years is both contentions and highly divisive.

Because I know relatively little about the 1950s, a gap in my knowledge base but probably not for either of my two regular readers, I’m currently absorbed in a book entitled “The Age of Eisenhower: America and the world in the 1950s” by William I. Hitchcock.

During the first half of the 1990s, I taught many adult-ed classes to Lawrence Chamber of Commerce members. When helping teach small business owners understand how best to make use of the internet, the prevailing wisdom even back in those days was that only around half of what was on the world wide web (does anyone call it that any more?) was accurate / true.

The forecast this morning referenced the possibility of sprinkles with a thirty percent chance of fifty mile per hour wind gusts, which sounded more like a prediction of what might happen at a children’s birthday party than a weather report, but kudos to the National Weather Service for coming up with a different way of saying it is, yet again, going to be dry and windy out here today.
