At just 15 years old, Harry Lynch has already spent three years building a dependable local business—and a savings account for his first car.

Harry, who will be a freshman at Eads High School this year, operates Harry’s Pet & Home Services, offering pet care, dog walking and basic home-check services for people who are working long hours, traveling or simply need an extra hand.

“I wanted to earn some money for myself,” Harry said.

What began as a way to make a little spending money has grown into a steady business that keeps him active and gives him the chance to spend time with animals throughout the community.

“Business is good,” Harry said. “It keeps me busy.”

Harry enjoys caring for animals of all kinds, including dogs, cats, birds and lizards. His services may include feeding and watering pets, walking dogs, playing with animals and providing companionship while their owners are away.

Because Harry has only one dog of his own, he said he especially enjoys getting to know and play with other people’s pets.

The job also gives him plenty of exercise. Harry often walks to and from the homes where he is caring for animals, adding a little extra mileage to the dog walks themselves.

His goal is to allow pets to remain comfortable in their own homes rather than being boarded or moved to an unfamiliar place. For many animals, staying in their regular surroundings can help reduce stress while their owners are gone.

Whether someone is taking a vacation, leaving town for a quick trip or simply facing a long day at work, Harry can stop by to check on pets, provide food and water and give them some attention.

His business also includes home guardian services, such as checking on a house while the owner is away, bringing in mail and retrieving packages from the porch.

Harry said he takes the responsibility seriously. Caring for someone else’s pet means following instructions carefully, arriving when expected and making sure each animal is safe and comfortable.

Over the past three years, the business has taught Harry about responsibility, time management and saving money. Rather than spending everything he earns, he has begun putting money aside toward buying a car someday.

For Harry, however, the work is not only about earning money. It is also about helping his neighbors and spending time doing something he genuinely enjoys.

Those interested in arranging pet or home care may call or text Harry at 719-931-2263. Callers may leave a message with information about the dates, animals and services needed.
