Town of Eads Minutes August 9, 2016

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday, August 09, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall.  Robin Fox, Town Clerk, took roll call:

Mayor – Joe D. Shields- present
Trustees – Present –Dennis Pearson, Terry Riley, Justin McLoud, Larry Gifford, and Kathy McCracken
Town Clerk- Robin Fox –
Assistant Clerk- Shealynn McCracken-Absent

Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present

Audiences/Public Comment Period – Cindy McLoud was present and gave updates on the last Kiowa County Commissioners meeting, they are still giving one free load of gravel to all Kiowa County Residents. They have made a few new rules on getting the gravel. She also talked about the upcoming Round table meeting and said that they were sending someone to represent the county.

Casey Sheridan the Kiowa County Sherriff was present and gave a update on things that have been taking place since January 1, 2016, they have made 15 city arrest for various reasons, 32 county arrest, and have had 224 total calls.  

Avery Snover and Justin Miller where present for the fire department, they had a new member Darrell Hollis and asked for the board to approve. Larry Gifford moved to approve Darrell, Kathy McCracken seconded, the motion passed unanimously.
They also gave the fire work donation update and raised $2121.12 in donations this year, giving them $612.13 over their amount and they asked that they be able to put that extra amount onto their budget for next year and be able to put on a bigger fire work show. Terry Riley moved to let them use that amount next year, Justin McLoud seconded, the motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting.  Kathy McCracken moved to approve payment of the bills in the packet, as well as, the “Bring up bills” presented at the meeting. Larry Gifford seconded, the motion passed unanimously.

New Business:

Tap Fees- The board discussed the water incentives and decided to give all new businesses the $600.00 for a tap fee for all in town and out of town on city water. Justin McLoud moved to approve and Dennis Pearson seconded the motion carried unanimously.

Water grant – Van Brown gave a update on his trip to Salida where he got to discuss the water grants, that will help with our water line project.

With nothing else to come before the board the meeting was adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
