Obituary for Keith Allen Simpson, 81

Keith Allen Simpson, 81, of Longmont passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Life Care Center of Longmont, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born January 12, 1937, in Brush, Colorado to John A and Gertrude B Simpson, and was a brother to twins John O (Jack) and Joyce L.

Keith Allen SimpsonKeith graduated from Eads (Colorado) High School in 1954, and went on to graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder, earning a degree in Music Education. He married Verta B Koch in Eads on June 17, 1956, and the couple lived in Boulder while Keith finished his degree. Keith began teaching music at Burlington (Colorado) High School, and had fond memories of those early days. In 1967, the family moved to Longmont where he taught instrumental music in the St Vrain Valley School District for the next 25 years. He was active in various local music and volunteer activities throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verta B Simpson as well as children Michael (Lucy); Deborah Stewart (David); Steven (Denise); and Kevin (Sonja) and grandchildren Andrew Garcia, Sean, Jaron, and Alyssa Simpson, Anne and Laura Stewart, Patrick and Ryan Simpson, JJ Aulsebrook, and Lily and Tyler Simpson. Keith is also survived by an aunt, Lila Simpson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Keith’s parents, brother and sister all preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Keith’s life will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St, Longmont, Colorado. A viewing will be available from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, November 2, 2018, also at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, for those wishing to pay respects.
