County Line Rivals will have 15 Strong on the Mat

It’s that time of year, yet again! The County Line Rivals Wrestling team has hit the mats already in preparation for the 2019-2020 season. Fifteen young men make up the team from Eads, McClave and Wiley Schools. Hayden Uhland is beginning his second year in the head coaching position but is looking to his assistant Trenton Piatt to help guide this team along. Piatt is a Colorado native. He completed his high school education at Olathe, Colorado, then went on to Western State where he was a successful member of the Mountaineers wrestling team all four years of his college tenure.

The Rivals have huge leadership roles to fill as they lost three state qualifiers from last season to graduation including Jonathon Burbank, Dawson Roesch (state placer), and Jayce Bauer who was a state runner-up. However, Coach Uhland feels they will have a competitive group of young men to help push the intensity in the practice room and bring the experience needed to lead the team.

According to Uhland, the 2019-2020 version of the Rivals could be very good with great numbers and the weights spread out and balanced. “We have some excellent size and we have some little guys too. That is going to help to make us competitive if they come along like I think they can.”

The team consists of 3 seniors, 4 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 4 freshmen. Leading the team will be a handful of state qualifiers from a year ago. They include junior Aiden Michael (Wiley formerly of Eads), junior Zack Fowler (Eads), senior A.J. Wilk (McClave), and sophomore Chase Stolzenberger (Eads). Senior Jaime Ybarra (McClave) returns to the Rivals after moving away last year. As a sophomore Ybarra was a state qualifier. Other wrestlers who had good seasons last year and should be able to advance if they put the work in include senior Angel Medina (Eads), junior Cade Zordel (Wiley), junior Tate Krentz (Wiley).

There are a lot of new faces, as well, and Uhland is very excited about his new guys. They include sophomore Taite Johnson (Eads), who was severely injured in football last year but has been in the weight room and looks good right now, sophomore Shaun Lynch (currently at Plainview but formerly of Eads), sophomore Christopher Torres (McClave), junior Angel Soto Delgado (McClave) and freshmen Brooks Jones (Wiley formerly of Eads), Brenden Reifschneider (Eads) and Ty Michael (Wiley, formerly of Eads).
County Line will head to Fowler on December 7th to begin their season. Check the Indy each week for results and scores from each tournament. GO RIVALS!
