Saturday was blustery and cold, but the Cheyenne Wells Tigers, girls’ and boys’ teams, burned up the track and the pits in Holly on their way to a double league championship.
The Cheyenne Wells girls used their strong relays and middle distance runners to grab first place over McClave. They would get championships from Aliyah Muth in the 1600 Meters, 4x100 Meter Relay team, and 4x200 Meter Relay team.
The Cheyenne Wells boys overcame a strong performance by multiple Cheraw athletes. The Tigers got points in the sprints and jumping events. League championships for the Cheyenne Wells boys came from freshman Trey Scheler in the 300 Meter Hurdles, Carson Noe in the Triple Jump, and the 4x200 Meter relay team.
The Eads girls only have three on their team but all three are quality athletes. Senior Maggie Haase came away with three league championships including the High Jump, Triple Jump, and 110 Hurdles. Freshman Tailee Weeks-Johnson won the league championship in the Shot Put.
Eads sophomore Stockton Mitchek was the league champion in the Long Jump.
The Granada boys got a double championship from John Hainer in the Shot Put and Discus.
The Kit Carson boys earned a number of league championships including Keaton Marriott in the 110 Hurdles, Bryson States in the 100 Meters, Brennan Framel in the 1600 Meters, and the 4x400 Meter Relay team.
