Since then, the Eagles have struggled to either get by Cheyenne Wells or McClave as Kit Carson has continued to dominate the district since 2012 when Eads beat the Cats in the District 2 championship.

As the old adage goes, “If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all.” Eads head Coach Trey Eder must be feeling exactly that sentiment as his extremely young Eagles not only suffered yet another mighty knock down punch in a 61-7 trouncing by the Cheyenne Wells Tigers, but also lost one of their best players, a freshman, no less, to a broken femur.  Taite Johnson got injured during the game and now joins his team mate sophomore Damian Barnes on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

It was touted as a key game in the Southern Conference as both Kit Carson and Cheyenne Wells had been beating teams all season by large deficits and the winner would have sole control of the Southern Conference with just a few games left in the season. It was also Rivalry Week in Cheyenne County and it was the Wildcats’ Homecoming.
